The recent nightmare faced by air travelers which left lakhs of people stranded at airports across the country. The question that naturally arises is: what went wrong? A corporation that controls nearly 60% of the market has, in effect, held the nation to ransom. A rule notified two years ago by the DGCA was deliberately not complied with, thereby compromising passenger safety and openly defying government regulations.

This issue does not concern air travelers alone; a large number of other individuals and businesses have also been adversely affected by the airline’s hostile and irresponsible conduct. As ordinary citizens, we are unable to understand the difficulty in complying with a rule that, as per reports, other airlines have duly followed.

In view of the seriousness of the matter, there is an urgent need for a high-level inquiry under the supervision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, and appropriate legal action must be taken against those responsible for these wrongful acts.
